Indian skirts hot in LA

Los Angeles, reportedly, has fallen in love with Indian styled skirts. The question now bugging marketing executives is what to call the damn things. "Indian", "Prairie", "Gypsy", "Bohemian", "Bollywood" were some names being considered.

Should we expect lungis and dhotis to become fashionable too?

There is this story about a traffic stop in LA.

A bunch of Indian guys decide to have an impromptu party and realise they were out of beer and chips and stuff. So they dash out of the hosue, hop into a car and drive off to the store. They are stopped on the highway for speeding. The cop walks up to the car and asks for license and registration, and asks the driver to step out. So the driver steps out of the car, bends down to lift the rim of his lungi, brings it up to his hip level and knots it up.

The cop stares at him for a second, then bursts out laughing. "What the hell are you wearing man?"

He returns the license and registration and sends them off on their merry way, tears streaming down his face.

So, maybe not anytime soon.

Hey, that could be another way of escaping a traffic ticket. Always wear lungis while driving.
